The Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings linked to Census 2021 Northern Ireland (ASHE-Census 2021 NI) dataset offers new opportunities to undertake accredited policy-relevant research on earnings, employment and inequalities in Northern Ireland. The dataset is now available for accredited researchers to apply to access through the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA)’s Research Support Unit (RSU).

New ADR Northern Ireland research has examined the relationship between homelessness and mortality using linked population-wide administrative data from Northern Ireland. The study found that people who were named on homelessness applications were more likely to die younger and disproportionately more from deaths of despair – deaths related to suicide, alcohol or substances – than those who had never presented as homeless.
New ADR Northern Ireland research has used linked individual-level administrative data to provide a comprehensive overview of homelessness in Northern Ireland over a ten-year period. The study offers a new perspective on homelessness by examining individuals named on homelessness applications, rather than focusing solely on households, providing important insights into who experiences homelessness and how patterns have changed over time.
New ADR Northern Ireland research has analysed a decade of population-level administrative data to explore the trends in mental ill-health in people who have experienced homelessness. In conjunction with a second insight written from the perspectives of people with lived experience, this study highlights the strong relationship between homelessness and mental ill-health and encourages policymakers to “see the person, not just the problem”.
